LOOPlus - Using the Application
« Back to LOOPlus
The following are instructions for building and deploying Dynamic Document Packages (DDPs) within your Salesforce.com account. You may also want to review the merge documentation within salesforce.com for creating merge fields in Microsoft Word files – a DDP uses the same fields.

(1) Drop Salesforce merge fields where appropriate in your Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and/or Excel file(s). (See Preparing Your Docs.)
If you have not worked with the merge functionality in salesforce, it will be helpful to complete training and document integration within your Salesforce.com account. Go to Setup, Desktop Integration.

For merge fields in Word, you can either use the Word “drop fields” functionality in the Salesforce Office integration or simply put a double bracket at the beginning and end of a salesforce field name — for example, <<ACCOUNT_NAME>>.
For merge fields in PowerPoint, simply put a double bracket at the beginning and end of a salesforce field name — for example, <<ACCOUNT_NAME>>.
LOOPlus will allow you to add merge fields into Excel files. You will be able to do this by dropping the salesforce merge field name into a cell range within Excel.
Simply highlight the text between the << >> and paste into the cell range in Excel. If you know the merge text, simply type the text into the cell range.

NOTE: Put your output sheets first and set the last page in the DDP to the number of pages you want to use in the DDP. Range Names are case sensitive so use all caps.
(2) Upload the files required for your DDP to the Salesforce Document Library.
(3) Build your Dynamic Document Package (DDP)
Click on the DDP Tab in Salesforce and build your Dynamic Document Package. Click New to create a Dynamic Document Package (DDP).

Select the Record Type to use for deploying the DDP.

Name the DDP and select a name for the new PDF output file. You can package any Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files into one combined DDP file.

Drag and drop files from your Salesforce Document library, determine the pages to use from each file and add any bookmarks or select an email template to use with the DDP, if required. You also need to set Security for the DDP – this can be done by Profile or Roles within Salesforce.

(4) Run DDP
Run a DDP: From your Opportunity, Account, Lead, Contact, Contract, Case or Custom Object, simply click LOOPlus and select which DDP to run.

Select the contact, select the DDP available, choose your delivery option and simply click “Run”. Note that you can send your DDP to other services within salesforce (like e-signatures).

Custom Object DDPs
To create a DDP for a Custom Object, follow steps above with the following modifications.
Select the Custom Object Record Type to use for deploying the DDP.

In addition, type the API name of the custom object in the Object Name field. The API name of the custom object can be found by going to Setup – Objects – your custom object.

Create a LOOPlus button under your custom object, assign it the “DDP Run” S-Control, and add it to the appropriate page layouts.
