iPad App New Release: Open In Feature

The new release is available today on the App Store. Drawloop for Salesforce (1.1.0) provides fixes for iOS 5 and adds the “Open In” feature to connect DDPs to other iPad Apps. Our iPad deployment allows social enterprises to extend Salesforce CRM and transition from creating documents on the desktop to dynamic document creation in the cloud. The app is available for free to any LOOP Document Services or LOOP Platform users. The new “Open In” feature allows you to send DDPs to other Apps on your iPad like:

Empower DDP Users in Any Language

We know that Dynamic Document Packages, or DDPs, have helped our clients generate and deliver documents they use every day. Companies across the world are using our services to automate their contracts, letters, quotes, servicing documents, proposals, and much more. Because of the global reach of our services, it has come to our attention that to help empower DDP users of other languages, they should be able to read the instructions provided to run a DDP. That is why, in the latest release of LOOP Document Services (version 5.5 on the AppExchange) we have provided administrators the ability to translate many text elements displayed when running a DDP.

To get started translating your DDP run page, you will need to enable your organization’s translation workbench and start adding languages (Salesforce Setup – Administration Setup – Translation Workbench – Translation Settings). All of the DDP run options that can be translated are in Setup – App Setup – Create – Custom Labels. Click on the linked Name of any item you want to translate, then click New Local Translations / Overrides.

Salesforce Merge to PowerPoint Features

The latest release of LOOP Document Services on the AppExchange includes powerful new document merge and creation features in PowerPoint. Many of our enterprise customers use PowerPoint to dynamically merge data from Salesforce into customized presentations. We have helped customers deploy PowerPoint DDPs for both internal and external use. Drawloop enables your company to create dynamic document packages (DDPs) merging data from any combination of Salesforce objects (including custom objects).

Some of our latest PowerPoint features include:

1) Dynamic Organizational Charts

This feature allows you to dynamically create organizational charts in PowerPoint based on hierarchy data in Salesforce. You can use the “out-of-the-box” Reports To function in Salesforce.

Or, you can also establish your own custom hierarchy relationships by using a lookup field to reference the same object.

2) Dynamic Charts & Graphs

With dynamic charts, you can set up a DDP to display dynamically generated charts & graphs in PowerPoint based on data in Salesforce. It is as simple as setting up a chart or graph in PowerPoint and then referencing the name of the chart when setting up the DDP. You can also have the data source be dynamic. (For example, you may have 15 records in Salesforce that are summarized into 5 rows of data for the chart.)

3) Row and Slide Replication in PowerPoint

You can set up a PowerPoint table to dynamically replicate rows in a table based on the number of Salesforce records as well as have the slide duplicate based on number of rows dynamically merged into PowerPoint.

Send Through SMTP Service on Salesforce

Over the past six months, our team has seen a lot of new and creative delivery options for dynamic document packages (DDPs). One of the more interesting is sending a DDP to a customer’s own SMTP service. As more of our customers leverage workflows and other automated ways to create and send DDPs, the limitations around Salesforce emails has been a problem.

By adding SMTP delivery option to your DDPs, you can control and eliminate Salesforce email limitations. This obviously helps when customers create DDPs from list views or have thousands of DDPs automatically sent through email.

Please contact us with any questions about sending DDPs to your own or a third party SMTP service.

Control document delivery: Some of your options include: (i) email document (as a combined PDF or original merged docs) through Salesforce email and associate with an email template, (ii) download, (iii) attach to an object, (iv) send through content delivery and (v) virtually any custom delivery option like send to an e-signature service.

Add Salesforce Chatter to Document Merge

With Salesforce Chatter now free to all Salesforce customers, we wanted to share how dynamic document packages (DDPs) can be integrated with Chatter. First, what is Chatter? Chatter allows you to work more efficiently and closely with colleagues on your own private and secure social network. Chatter gives you updates on the people, project, and data that matter most.

One of the latest features of our document merge and automation service on Salesforce is its integration with Chatter. You can now add specific Chatter messages to DDP delivery options. For example, you can specify a Chatter message to be sent when a Sales Proposal is run and sent out through Salesforce email. Or, you might want to send a Chatter message when a Sales Quote is sent via a specific workflow.

Here’s how it works:

1) Add a Chatter message to a DDP

2) Run your DDP

3) Chatter message is automatically posted

We recently were able to help an existing customer with a new requirement for his quotes. Based on his unique business requirements, he was able to leverage our document service and use Microsoft Excel as “middleware” to avoid having to add lots of custom Salesforce fields and complex formulas.

Microsoft Excel – With Drawloop’s LOOPlus service, you can dynamically pass Salesforce data into Excel, run any calculations and then pass any Excel values to another document (Word or PowerPoint) as well as pass back to Salesforce fields. This all can be run in seconds in concert with any other combination of documents that are part of your DDP.

Send DDP to Salesforce User Email

Many of our customers have asked if a DDP can automatically run “behind the scenes” and then email the merged DDP directly to the Saleforce user (sales rep). We listened and our team is pleased to announce that this new delivery option has been added to LOOPlus.

Confused on how to use this delivery option? Here’s an example of where “email user” functionality can be used. Let’s say your sales reps don’t want to wait for the DDP to be created or they need to include other elements or more thoughtful email communication with the proposal. With email user delivery, the sales rep can click a button and then receive an email with the attached merged DDP. From there, the user can work within email to deliver the DDP later in the day when he or she has time to review and complete the communication to go out with the sales proposal.

Your organization can also leverage Salesforce email services to archive and store the email of the DDP to the customer. Learn more about Salesforce email services.
